In late November, at 1442 East Route 70, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, chef-proprietors Joshua Lawler and Todd Fuller will open the Farm & Fisherman Tavern & Market, an inclusive restaurant, bar, and grocer specializing in regional, seasonal fare.
The Tavern & Market will be a community-driven destination for authentic cooking and genuine hospitality, a standout premise in an area largely occupied by chain restaurants and big-box grocers.
“Todd and I both live in this neighborhood with our families and saw the need for a family-friendly, food-driven place to eat – whether for an anniversary celebration or a simple night out with the kids,” notes Chef Lawler, who grew up in Conshohocken, PA. “The Tavern & Market will be all that and so much more: a great, friendly place to eat where the servers and bartenders know you by name, as well as a generously stocked resource for the freshest ingredients available, from the exceptional producers & purveyors who also call our region home.”
“Our Tavern menu and our Market offerings will encourage our guests to cook and eat the way that we do,” adds Chef Fuller, “with a focus on local and seasonal fare and with a deep appreciation for all the exceptional raw ingredients that our region has to offer.”
Together, Chefs Fuller & Lawler will bring the warmth and conviviality of a neighborhood tavern and the brimming-with-goodness appeal of an old school, stocked-to-the-ceiling Italian deli to the community.
The Farm & Fisherman Tavern & Market will feature two independent but cooperative spaces. The Market will be open throughout the day, offering everything from coffees and breakfast dishes in the mornings to prepared entrées and sides for lunch. For dinner, the chefs are offering homemade soups, sauces, and composed family-style meals: a hearty entrée, vegetable side dish, salad and simple dessert, all seasonally based.
Similarly warm & welcoming, the Tavern will offer a seamless 150-seat bar and restaurant that spills out into the Market, serving Chefs Lawler & Fuller’s menu throughout the day. Guests can expect artfully prepared small plates, snacks, entrées, and family-style meals in a genial atmosphere, complemented by an ever-changing assortment of hyper-local craft beers, small-production wines, and expertly mixed classic cocktails.
The Market will be home to a wide variety of the components used on the Tavern’s menu, which means that guests who particularly enjoy their draught beer can also purchase a growler to go; and diners enamored with their sandwich can pick up a loaf of the same freshly baked bread before heading home.
The Farm & Fisherman Tavern & Market is scheduled to open in late November. Hours will be from 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday; 4:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight on Friday & Saturday; and 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday. Breakfast will be offered in early 2014.
