On Saturday, September 23, 2017, one of my favorite haunts, the Mercersburg Inn, 405 South Main Street, Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, will host another in its popular series of International Wines and Food Weekends: “Wines and Food of Chile and Argentina.”
At 5:00 p.m. there will be a wine tasting and educational session – featuring 6 wines – with host John Peters. At 8:00 p.m., the Inn’s chef, Dan Nowalk, a charter member of the Pennsylvania Culinary Society, will delight guests with a 5-course dinner with wine pairings specifically chosen by Mr. Peters.
The complete menu is noted below…
Timbale de Quinoa: Nutty Grain Salad with Sweet Corn, Avocado, and Cilantro with Sherry Vinaigrette
Empanadas: Fried Pastry filled with Braised Beef Shin, Green Olives, and Hard Cooked Eggs
Scallop Crudo: in a Lime Vinaigrette with Melon, Radish, and Celery Leaf Salad
Matambre: Spit Roasted Flank Steak with Chimichurri
Alfajores: Soft Cookie Confections filled with Caramel and garnished with Chocolate Sauce
Coffee/Tea
The cost of the wine tasting and dinner is $130.00 per person; $120.00 for repeat Wine and Food guests (plus tax & gratuity). An overnight stay is required. For more information, or to make reservations, please call (717) 328-5231.
