Valentine’s Day Dining in New Jersey

valentine2As Valentine’s Day (Weekend) approaches, I’ll be noting a variety of romantic gastronomic possibilities…


Daryl Wine Bar and Restaurant in New Brunswick will be celebrating Valentine’s Day all weekend, Friday, February 12th, through Sunday, February 14th. Chef Juan Carlos Fernandez will supplement his à la carte menu with special appetizers, entrées, and desserts to tempt the palate. All diners will receive a complimentary glass of sparkling red wine upon arrival, with a rose for the ladies upon departure. For reservations, please call (732) 253-7780.


The Knife and Fork in Atlantic City will also be celebrating Valentine’s Day the weekend of February 12 -14. In addition to the regular à la carte menu, the following specials will be offered: Seafood Sampler for Two ($37.00), Oysters, Shrimp, Lobster Tail, Crabmeat, and Tuna Tartare; Roasted Rack of Venison for Two ($70.00), Dried Cherry Compote, Peperoncino Spinach, and Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes; Ultimate Surf & Turf for Two ($90.00), 18-ounce Lobster Tail and 16-ounce Sirloin, Grilled Asparagus and Au Gratin Potatoes; Chocolate Covered Strawberries ($9.00), Champagne Sabayon; Special Sparkling Wine by the Glass ($8.00), NV Juve y Camps, Brut Rosé, Penedes. Restaurant Lorena’s in Maplewood will be serving from 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. on both Saturday, February 13th, and Sunday, February 14th. A three-course prix-fixe will be offered with choices on Valentine’s Day. Prices will range from $68.00 – $89.00 (plus tax and gratuity). Restaurant Nicholas in Middletown is now accepting reservations for Valentine’s Weekend. On Friday evening, February 12th, the restaurant will serve from 5:30 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.; on Saturday and Sunday, February 13th and 14th, seatings will be from 5:00 p.m. – 10:45 p.m. Nicholas will be offering a three-course menu with a special box of chocolates per couple prepared by the restaurant’s pastry chef.
