Tomato Tasting Menu at Restaurant Serenade

serenade1Restaurant Serenade in Chatham, New Jersey, will celebrate the tomato season with their annual “Tomato Tasting Menu,” which will be available from this Thursday, August 12th, through September.

 

The menu will feature a bounty of tomatoes from local farms, as well as items from Chef James Laird’s own half-acre garden.

 

Corn Chowder: Sweet 100s, Creamless Purée, Pete’s Corn, Golden Purslane

Wine: Riesling, “Tradition” Domaine Barmès Buecher 2008, Alsace, France

 

Lobster: German Stripe, Tomato Risotto, Pea Shoots, Parsley Coulis

Wine: Graves, Clos Floridène 2000, Bordeaux, France

 

Bison Burger: Green Zebra, Moroccan Spices, Red Tomato Gazpacho, Eggplant Fritter

Wine: Viña Cubillo, “Crianza” Lopez de Heredia 2004, Rioja, Spain

 

Heirloom Tomato Salad: Melicks’ Town Farm Tomatoes, Warm Mozzarella, Opal Basil, Herbed Croutons

 

Tart Tatin: Roasted Plum Tomatoes, Basil Ice Cream, Flaky Pastry

Wine: Moscato d’Asti, “Bricco Quaglia” La Spinetta 2009, Piedmont, Italy

 

The cost of the tomato tasting menu is $70.00 per person; $105.00 per person with wine pairings.
