The third annual East Coast Food and Wine Festival will be held at Hopewell Valley Vineyards, 46 Yard Road, Pennington, New Jersey, on Saturday & Sunday, June 26th & 27th, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.
This event is produced by Slow Food Central Jersey & Five Estate Wineries of New Jersey, and sponsored by NJN Public Radio & Television and Wegmans. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength, which fights childhood hunger.
The East Coast Food & Wine Festival features the best restaurants and some of the most celebrated wineries of the area. Attendees can sample dishes prepared with the season’s locally grown vegetables, fruits, seafood, chicken, meats, and more, all dished up by some of the most exciting chefs in the State.
In addition, estate wineries from the State will be offering samples of hundreds of wines grown and produced near by. Attendees can sample award-winning wines to pair with the food from New Jersey wineries, including hot Hopewell Valley Vineyards (Pennington), Alba Vineyard (Finesville), Unionville Vineyards (Ringoes), Cape May Winery (Cape May), and Laurita Vineyards (New Egypt).
A popular feature of the East Coast Food & Wine Festival is the Farmers’ Market. Here attendees can purchase locally made cheeses, salami, organic produce, honey, meats, seafood, flowers, and much more – all grown and/or produced in the Garden State.
What sets this event apart from others is the focus on education. There are cooking demonstrations, wine presentations, cookbook authors, seminars on organic farming, bee keeping and honey making, and winery tours.
Unlike other food and wine events, attendance is capped at a few thousand a day, allowing attendees to ask questions, get close to the action, and even talk one-on-one with participating celebrities. And, unlike other events, entrance to all of the cooking demos and wine presentations is included in the very reasonable entrance fee.
Tickets are $35.00 for a one-day ticket purchased in advance at www.slowfoodandwinefestival.com and $40.00 at the door; and $55.00 for a two-day ticket purchased in advance and $60.00 at the door. Tickets include parking, wine tasting, entrance into all the seminars and cooking demos, winery tours, a reusable six bottle bag, and an etched wine glass. Food is available at a nominal fee.
