Philly’s Zama Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Five-Course Tasting Menu

Zama PhiladelphiaOn Friday evening, December 19, 2014, Zama Restaurant, 129 South 19th Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will celebrate their 5th anniversary by serving a special one-night five course tasting menu.

First Course – Shigoku Oyster and Soft Shell Shrimp: Zama’s Oyster Shooter with Soft Shell Shrimp, Lemon, Soy Pickled Jalapeños, and Wasabi Stem

Second Course – Kanpachi Sashimi: Truffled-Kombi Salt with Avocado, Asian Pear, Lime, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Third Course – Tuna California: Jumbo Lump Crab California wrapped in Big Eye Tuna, Miso Mustard Sauce

Intermezzo – Asian Pear: Bamboo Charcoal Salt, Shiso and Angel Tears

Fourth Course – Nigiri Plate: 7 Chef’s Selection of Nigiri

Fifth Course – Truffled SST Omelet: Spicy Shrimp Tempura with Eel and Scallion, wrapped in a Dashi Egg Omelet and topped with Truffled Eel Sauce

The special five-course tasting menu is priced at $55.00 per person (plus beverages, tax & gratuity).

Chef Hiroyuki “Zama” Tanaka, is one of Philadelphia’s most venerated sushi chefs. Critically acclaimed since 2011, Zama Restaurant is located on 19th Street just half a block from Rittenhouse Square, making it a convenient and enticing dining option for visitors and locals alike.

Mr. Tanaka brings the rich culinary traditions of Japan to Center City. The restaurant offers more than 30 à la carte sashimi, as well as a wide variety of maki rolls and vegetable offerings. The restaurant also serves a wide variety of Japanese beers, as well as a lengthy list of handpicked sakes & wines and a full bar. Chef Tanaka opened his second restaurant, coZara this year.
