Thanksgiving Day Dining in New Jersey

In the next several weeks, for those who may be contemplating dining out on Thanksgving Day, I’ll be noting a number of excellent possibilities in the Garden State…

 

avenue1Avenue in Long Branch will serving from 12:00 noon – 7:00 p.m. on November 26th and will be featuring a three-course prix-fixe with options for both traditional and contemporary tastes. The cost will be $42.00 per person. Children 6 – 12 will have their own three-course menu priced at $22.00 per child. And Chef Dominique Filoni will continue Avenue’s “Thanksgiving Meals-to-Go” with choices for a small or large roasted whole grain-fed turkey with vegetable, chestnut & foie gras bread stuffing, giblet gravey, butternut squash soup, green beans & almonds, and honey-glazed pecan pie. 4-6 people, $120.00 plus tax; 8-10 people, $180 plus tax. bernardsinn2The Bernards Inn in Bernardsville will once again offer a sumptuous buffet or prix-fixe dinner. Seatings for the grand buffet will be from 12:00 noon – 6:00 p.m. The buffet will offer oven-roasted organic Griggstown turkey with all the trimmings, as well as beef, seafood, pasta selections, salads, charcuterie, artisanal cheeses, and an elaborate dessert display. The buffet is priced at $59.00 per person for adults; $29.00 for children ages 6-12; $15.00 for children ages 2-5. Seatings for children under age 2 are complimentary. Seatings for the 3-course prix-fixe dinner are from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and will include special chef creations, including organic Griggstown Turkey. The dinner is priced at $70.00 for adults; $35.00 for children ages 2-12. Patrons are also invited to extend their Thanksgiving holiday with an overnight package for two that includes dinner, accommodations in a tastefully appointed guestroom, nightcap of warm apple cider and spiced rum, and an à la carte breakfast. boulevard-five-72On Thanksgiving Day from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Boulevard in Kenilworth will headline Chef Scott Snyder’s roasted organic maple-cured turkey with all the trimmings. Family-style appetizers will include a choice of sautéed lump crab cakes, apple & endive salad, and pumpkin ravioli. Other entrée possibilities will feature roasted Long Island duck, and grilled dry-aged strip steak. Desserts are assorted traditional pastries. The cost is $48.00 per person. A delectable à la carte menu will also be available with choices from shrimp corn chowder and grilled octopus & shrimp salad to roast lamb loin with asparagus, goat cheese potato purée, and chanterelles. dueterre2Due Terre in Bernardsville invites diners to join in an exceptional Italian Thanksgiving feast. The restaurant will be serving from 12:00 noon – 6:00 p.m. and will feature a 3-course prix-fixe priced at $50.00 per person. Children will enjoy a 2-course prix-fixe priced at $20.00 per child. Appetizer choices include wild mushroom soup, baby arugula salad, warm oysters, grilled baby quail, and 18-month Prosciutto de Parma. Entrée possibilities: roasted breast of turkey with traditional trimmings, braised duck ravioli, baked branzino, grilled Berkshire pork, lobster agnolotti, and Barolo-braised beef short rib. Side dishes: Italian sausage stuffing, extra virgin olive oil potato purée, roasted organic sweet potato, sautéed Brussels sprouts, oven-baked spaghetti squash, and grilled asparagus.
